1st Attack
Description: This piece is about Snip doing experiments where she ended up consuming the Butterfly Potion and gained butterfly attributes. Of course, since this form was achieved through Fleshomancy. The newly gained parts are fueled by blood and muscle.
Personal Notes: The first piece to begin ArtFight is simply Bloody Beautiful. I gave Skelenby's OC (Snip) some pretty butterfly wings. Since they're a Fleshomancer; I decided to give the wings some flowy feel similar to blood as well as eyes to show off the darkness and biological elements of the magic. I took some time reading their lore out and I do find it fascinating. I do hope I get chances to read more lore of their world and OCs in the near future. What I got from the lore is that Snip over here does their lab work in a barn. Barns are already red so I don't have to worry about making some bits bloody but I also tried to put some marks of it being a laboratory. Hence explaining the burn mark on the top left corner. I added a few things on the side so that it actually feels like a lab like a box, a flask, and some flowers to give the place some whimsy. Another reason why I gave them butterfly wings is that apparently I can draw them as a cat or a bug. I decided to fuse them together in my own sense of Fleshomancy. Orignally, I was gonna put them on a CatBug Costume but I dropped the idea cause that sounds copyrighted and It's not too cool as the BloodyFly Wings. I would've animated this if I knew how to animate the squirmy flowy effect I wanted. I also tried doing a unique rendering process and it definitely isn't a thing I should use a lot but at least it turned out fine with this piece. The process I use involves hard edges for the burn and addition layer while I use smooth edges on color dodge and multiply layers. I wanted to draw the dogs as well but I didn't cause I'm not confident on how good it looks with the current style and they might end up lookin' like dog-shaped blobs. You might've noticed that they have a Neocities. My secondary goal for ArtFight as to attack most peeps I found from the Indie Web. I personally believe that peeps who live in the Indie Web deserves a lot of love as well and I'd like to share my love for the Indie Web as well. Skelenby is one of the peeps I found and It was definitely a pleasure to start my battles against someone who lives in the same internet space as I do.
2nd Attack
Description: This piece is about Zoo Wee and Star traveling in the nerd dimension where everything nerdy is there, however, the part they're traveling to is the most desolate area known to the denizens. They hop across floating cloud trees to get across the vast Binary Sea to seek a legendary icon of nerdy power, Tux, the Linux Penguin. This scene is where they take a break once they found the legend themselves. It appears the penguin is on a quest to reach the ominous dark beacon and it's a mystery on why they seem to approach the thing.
Personal Notes: Took my time with this one and I definitely made it a bit too challenging for me. They have chibi proportions from their references and I don't know why I put them in one of the difficult angles people draw peeps on. I also wanted to stick to my artstyle cause I wanna keep my eye for anatomy good so that I could keep up with the future pieces. Designing the world is by far the hardest in this piece. It's not easy coming up with worldbuilding; let alone drawing that world from scratch. Everything's worth it tho; I got all the experience with artistic worldbuilding and my anatomy skills enhanced. I captured their form and figures well and designing the Binary Sea and its landscape is simply lovely. Mentally, since I like these characters and I find them cute. I wanted Ray to send them to the 'Nerd Dimension'. which explains why I put them into this world. Since this is a Tech-Core World; I gotta put the linux penguin man. You know how much I love Linux. There's no doubt that I'd be putting them in there. Plus, I just recently played Deltarune and that basically lead to me adding a dark fountain into this world too. The brainrot is legit, REAL.
World Breakdown: The leaves of the electrical are made of steam and the trees are basically copper wires and as they get older a protective shell grows out of them which is made of rubber. The steam is formed from the reaction of exposed copper and the atmosphere of the world. The Binary Sea is simply a pitch black sea with bright green matrix highlights of ones and zeroes. This world is only accessible through digital means by manipulating a body/model through a computer. In this case, Star and Zoo Wee are already beings from the digital world which enables them to traverse the landscape with no limitations. The only thing that poses itself to be dangerous is the rough waves of the sea and the bugs that linger in its depths. Legendary beings come around and visit to travel to another world to spread their influence. Specificially beings like Tux the Penguin.
3rd Attack
Description: This piece is about bluby, nessie, and cery having a picnic together. They feast as they watch the giant birds that blast through the skies. It was a good day for bird watching too for the sun doesn't blaze their skin. The fauna enjoying their presence and eats together with them. Of course, there is some fascinating flora on the sides that makes the view much more pleasant.
Personal Notes: After doing cloverstar's piece; I moved on to an easier set of OCs to work with. I found the perfect OCs for the job and comfort. I found candycaneeater in my Indie Web Adventures and I simply wanted to attack them when I discovered that they have an ArtFight profile. I'm glad that I found them cause I like these little slime peeps. They're cute, adorable, and I can make something nice and whimsical. I thought of the Picnic Mini-Game of Pokemon as the perfect scene for them. Especially based upon reading their lore; they have a lot of inspirations from Pokemon. I added a silly thing in the mix cause I want them to do some bird-watching. The best bird I came up with is Valstrax from Monster Hunter. I only through the silhouette though but I added a tortoise for increased cuteness factors. One thing I wanna do for next year's ArtFight is to add a simple-shaped creature. Candycaneeater got their revenge but I feel like they got nerfed. I do adore the piece they gave me. I think it's kinda unfair that I drew a simple-shade character and most of my roster is like full-on humans. They mentioned that they do struggle with drawing humans which makes sense and I do have OCs on my mind who are simple-shaped. Take for example: the mascot of my dear website, Banana Dolphin. I'd love to think Ray owns these in an aquarium or two and puts them back in their worlds once they healed up or something. Anyways, I wanna make things fair by adding a few creatures and their Reference Sheets cause I wanna make it fun for peeps to draw my OCs as well as having a feeling of comfort when selecting through my roster.
